Alexandre was awarded eleven composition prizes in national contests. He is master and graduate in Composition at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).
Active participant of events such as Bienal de Música Brasileira Contemporânea (Rio de Janeiro - RJ), Panoramas da Música Brasileira Atual (Rio de Janeiro - RJ), Festival Música Nova (São Paulo - SP), Mostra de Música Contemporânea (Ouro Preto – MG) and Música Brasileira do Século Passado (Rio de Janeiro - RJ), among others. He had his work played at Sala Palestrina of the Brazilian embassy in Rome (Italy), in the Cultural Cup (Germany), in the World Music Day (Switzerland) in the Iberian-American Festival of Culture (Russia), among other events in some other cities, such as Paris (France) and New York (USA).
He received financial aid from CNPq and CAPES as composer, instrumentalist and researcher. At the moment, he teaches at Escola de Música Villa Lobos (or Villa-Lobos Music School) where he is responsible for the arrangement, instrumentation and orchestration classes, and also History of Music and Morphology. He also runs NUC (Center of Contemporary Music), scheduling concerts and workshops. He is a member of SBMC (Brazilian Society of Contemporary Music), affiliated to the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music), and is part of the composers group Prelúdio 21, developed to disseminate the group and their guest artists’ work, with concerts, lectures and workshops.
